Thanks for viewing our web site, we hope it is very informative, and if you have any questions please call us and we will be glad to help in any way we can. What time is check in and check out times, and what hours is the office open?

What time is check in and check out times?
Check in time is 3:00 PM (some guests arriving earlier can call the office or stop by, if unit is ready you may check in, if not you will have to wait until is cleaned). WE GUARANTEE 3:00 PM CHECK IN. Check out time is 11:00 am (NO EXCEPTIONS). We are open from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm 7 days a week other Christmas and Thanksgiving.

How do I make reservations?
Please call our office at (800) 299-8943, and have your dates you are planning and how many people are in your party. You will need to place a one-third deposit and the balance is to be paid two weeks prior to check-in. American Mountain Rentals may use any funds received from guests immediately upon receipt of such funds. You may either make reservations on our web site or by call our office.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation Policy - Due to holding these accommodations and in consideration of the fact that we did not rent this unit or these dates to others, we cannot return any payments unless you cancel 30 days prior to your arrival date (30 days). If you cancel and the date is greater then (30 days) from your arrival date we will refund your deposit, less our administration fee of $50.00. If you cancel less then 30 days to your arrival day, your deposit will be held for future use (within 90 days of original rental) as the deposit for a rescheduled stay.

Are any of the units pet friendly?
We are sorry, no pets are allowed.

We are arriving late after the office is closed, how can we check in?
Your balance must be paid in full before no later than 2 weeks before your arrival date. We will arrange to leave your map and keys to your unit at the office.

We have had some bad experiences renting a chalet or cabin before, is the unit clean? Does everything work properly?
All units are cleaned thoroughly after every stay, and every now and then something mechanical/electrical may malfunction, we guarantee we will have the problem fixed as soon as possible. We want you to enjoy your vacation with us and we want you to come back and stay with us. Please call the office if something does not work properly. NO ADJUSTMENT OF THE RENTAL RATE, OR REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

Are all units handicapped accessible?
Not all units are, please tell rental agent if you need a handicapped accessible unit.

I am scared of steep driveways and roads, do all houses in the mountains have steep driveways?
No, some units do not, however we are located near the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains, so not all roads are level. Some units do have steep driveways, but all are paved and you do not need 4 wheel drive vehicles, normal vehicles are fine. (During wintertime you may need 4 wheel drive vehicle). The higher up the unit the better the view. All driveways and roadways are absolutely safe. If you have any questions about your unit you are renting or have reserved please call rental agent.

Does the chalet or cabin we rent have air conditioning?
All units have central heating and air conditioning.

Do all units have swimming pool privileges?
Not all units have swimming pool privileges, some do, please call rental agent to find out which ones have access to pools.

Are linens provided?
We provide sheets for beds and sofa beds, towels, wash cloths, and dishtowels.

Is the kitchen fully equipped?
The kitchen in each unit has dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove/oven, blender, electric can opener, toaster, coffee maker (with filters), dishes, eating utensils, pots/pans for normal cooking. If you plan to do large cooking (ex. Thanksgiving dinner), you may want to bring larger baking pans and pots.

Do we need to provide our own firewood?
We provide the firewood, but not starter logs, or kindling. Fireplaces can only be used from October 1st to May 1st. An extra cleaning charge will be added if fireplaces are used any other time.

Do we need to clean the unit and wash all the linens before we leave and is there a cleaning fee?
The only thing at check out you need to do is: Wash the dishes (dishwasher soap and liquid is provided), make sure all trash is bagged up and no trash is laying around in floors or on tables, and throw your towels in a bath tub. We do charge a minimal cleaning fee depending on the size of the cabin. This ensures that we can have your linens sanitized clean and fresh for each and every arrival.

Do we have to give a security deposit?
We imprint your credit card at check in time, and have you sign a form saying you are responsible for any damages or extra cleaning during your stay. If you do not have a credit card, you will need a cash deposit. $100.00 for 1-3 bedroom units, and $200.00 for 4 bedrooms and larger. A check will be mailed back within 2 weeks from your departure date.

I already have a cabin/chalet rented, and I will be in the area soon, can I drive by and take a look at it?
If no one is staying in the particular unit we can let you drive by it, if it is occupied we want to respect the privacy of the people who are renting it, because some future guests have knocked on the door and disrupted the people already in the cabin, wanting to go through and look at the place. We want your stay With us to be enjoyable, with no disruptions. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Can you send/fax me a map to the unit I have rented before we check in, because some of the party staying with us is coming in later? Can we get the phone number to the unit at the time I make reservation?
We have maps to the cabin from the office, too many people have been lost because they do not know where the office is. On your confirmation is directions to the office, if you have other guests arriving later than you, make sure they have a copy of the directions, or print them from our web site. We will arrange to leave them maps at the office. Please call our office the day before you arrive and we will gladly give you the phone number.

What is the difference between a chalet and a cabin?
A chalet is a contemporary style, very modern. A cabin has some wood surfaces, or all wood surfaces (no drywall or sheetrock walls.)

What are the age requirement for renting a chalet/cabin?
The age requirements is 21 years of age, if you are 18-21 you must have a cash security deposit of $200.00 for 1-3 bedroom units, $400.00 for 4 bedrooms and larger. Married couples between 18 and 21 are charged the normal security deposit. (Or imprint of credit card for incidentals).
